Salesperson License Requirements
Individuals who perform acts of real estate services in South Carolina must be licensed by the Real Estate Commission. A salesperson license gives you the ability to work in the office of a real estate broker as an employee or independent contractor. For the purposes of the License Professor, a salesperson is similar to sales agents in other states. Purchasing the sales agent package and selecting South Carolina will provide you with national questions as well as South Carolina-specific salesperson questions.
Minimum Requirements to Apply for the Salesperson License
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Completion of a Commission-approved 60-hour (or more) course in the fundamentals of real estate.
- Within one year after passing the examination, the applicant must be sponsored by a broker-in-charge and apply for a provisional sales license, which is mailed to the broker-in-charge.
- Within one year following licensure, a salesperson shall provide proof of satisfactory completion of thirty hours of post-licensing instruction in advanced real estate principles and practices.

Broker License Requirements
A South Carolina Real Estate Broker License is required of individuals who want to employ salespersons under their supervision. A broker license would allow you to operate your own real estate business or act as a broker for a corporation or partnership. Minimum Requirements to Apply for the Broker License
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Completion of 150 hours, 90 hours of which may be the hours required for a salesman's license, of classroom instruction in advanced real estate principles and practices and related topics.
- Have three years of experience within the past five years with a salesperson's license.
- Evidence submitted to the Department of a Juris Doctor, Bachelor of Laws degree, or a baccalaureate degree with a major in real estate from an accredited college or university or the Commission may accept proof of related education and at least five years of experience immediately preceding license application in business activities equivalent to or closely related to real estate transactions.

Can I get a South Carolina real estate license if I have a criminal record?
