The Real Estate License Professor

THE REQUIREMENTS FOR A NEW MEXICO REAL ESTATE LICENSE

To be eligible for licensure, candidates must meet the following qualifications established by New Mexico law and pass the designated examinations.

A Broker candidate must:

1. Be at least 18 years of age.
2. Be a legal resident of the United States; and
3. Have met one of the following requirements:

• Have performed actively as a Salesperson for at least 24 of the preceding 36 months AND complete 90 hours of classroom instruction in approved real estate courses, specifically 30 hours in Real Estate Law, 30 hours in Real Estate Practice, and 30 hours in Broker Basics.

  Have completed 180 hours of classroom instruction in approved real estate courses, specifically 30 hours in Real Estate Law, 30 hours in Real Estate Practice, and 30 hours in Broker Basics, PLUS 90 hours of elective courses.
  
• Have documented current licensure as a Real Estate Broker in another state for at least one(1) year AND have completed 90 hours of classroom instruction in approved real estate courses, specifically 30 hours in Real Estate Law, 30 hours in Real Estate Practice, and 30 hours in Broker Basics (A current license history from the other state's licensing agency is required.)

A Sales Person candidate must:

1. Be at least 18 years of age.
2. Be a legal resident of the United States; and
3. Have completed 60 hours of classroom instruction in approved real estate courses, specifically 30 hours in Real Estate Law and 30 hours in Real Estate Practice within three years preceding the application for examination for licensure.
